Turkey Drive Success

The First Annual Turkey Drive was a huge success!! Thousands in donations were collected with the help of our wonderful community. In a great effort 4000 lbs of turkey, 2500 lbs of canned goods and non perishable goods were collected. Also, over $1,000 in cash and checks for the Salt Mine were donated. Even local teens had a hand in donating. The Frozen Turkey and/or Canned Goods were collected at the Safeway in Lincoln and at Firehouse #34 on Joiner Parkway. A lot of people worked very hard to make this happen, they even had a drive through drop off!

Thank you to our outstanding team of fire fighters, Lincoln CERT, Lincoln Rotary,  Angeion Consulting, and of course all the community of Lincoln who went above and beyond to help their neighbors. Thank you to the Salt Mine who will be doing the hard work of making sure that all of your generous donations go to those in need.

The Shrum boys also had a part in helping their hometown. The Lincoln community and surrounding areas participated in buying pumpkins to make their donation of Turkeys a success. The boys took money from their pumpkin sales and was able to purchase 45 turkeys and donated them to the 1st Annual Turkey Drive at the Lincoln Fire Department.  Thank you boys for your caring hearts and hard work!!

We are so pleased this event was such a huge success and we look forward to partnering with everyone next year!! Have a Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Holiday.

We partnered with the Lincoln Professional Firefighters to help them get the word out about their TURKEY DRIVE!!Bring a frozen turkey to the firehouse on Joiner & First or to Safeway on November 20th from 12pm-6pm to donate to local hungry families!!

We always participate in the Food Truck events every month put on by Downtown Lincoln!! We put in a lot of effort each month to help this run smoothly for everyone! 

A recap of this year’s October Food Truck event:
What do Zombies, pets in Halloween costumes, and delicious food have in common? They were all at this month’s Downtown Lincoln Food Truck Event! Lots of people came out and brought their cameras for the Zombie (LHS Drama Club) selfie. They brought their dogs (in costume) for the Pet Costume Contest & Parade (hosted by Fashion Fo Paws). Everyone really seemed to enjoy the beer truck, music, kid zone, & Dono Dal Cielo was there with wine too. Fun was had all around at this Halloween food truck event.

Stop by our office in Downtown Lincoln and see the scarecrows!! We have two scarecrows up and they look great!! Thank you to Mrs. Armistead’s AVID program at Lincoln High School and The Little School House for their scarecrows!!

We will be handing out Halloween Candy at our Lincoln office on Halloween from 3pm-5pm, which is this Friday!! Come by and see us!!

If you haven’t attended the Lincoln Showcase in previous years Wanda and I would definitely recommend it. It is a fun evening with a chance to enjoy our local restaurants, wineries and breweries. We are really looking forward to it!

The Independence Day Parade

Here at Mertens Insurance we love to help our community.

We look forward to reaching out and providing a helping hand. Every year we try to find ways to give back, make a difference and engage in our community. Recently we participated in the Independence Day Parade here in Lincoln, CA.

The Independence Parade drew the biggest crowd ever! The streets were lined up to 10 people deep in some areas, all the way though the parade route. There were a variety of entries showing their Red, White and Blue spirit!

Children lined the streets with excitement waiting to see the floats, car’s and animals. The children grew even more excited every time they seen someone coming down the street that was passing out flags, necklaces or throwing candy their way. Oh, the memories they will have to look back on when they are older.

Lincoln is a great place to live and we pride ourselves in being a home based business. Community and family are very important and we love that you are apart of our family!!

Lincoln Farmers Market

Come on out to see us at the Farmers Market in Lincoln. We are excited to be apart of such a great community! We will be set up in front of our office at  543 F Street in Downtown Lincoln.  There will be lots of fun and Free Otter Pops! We will have fun games for the kids and prizes too!

Did you know the vendors at a Certified Farmers’ Market have been inspected by their local Agriculture Department.  Each farmer has a list of the products they grow on display in their sales booth. The produce is fresh, local, and direct from the local farms. Produce sold at a Certified Farmers’ Market is usually picked the morning of the market or, at the longest time, the night before. Just a few of the products there will be vegetables, fruits, eggs, cheeses, honey and lots of other produce.

So come out, have some fun, and support our town. Listen to music,  Purchase your family some healthy, fresh food from our local farmers. If we all stick together we can help keep our town a wonderful place to live.
